2090 – Start of the Great Dark Age: Most of the successor political states in North America have fallen. Many future historians consider this the first official year of the Great Dark Age.

2091 – Founding of the Kingdom of Alma: January 1st, Major Jean-Paul Chevalier, formerly of the Canadian Army, proclaims himself King of Alma.

22nd Century

2180 to 2183 – The War of the Saints: The Saint Cloud Union (SCU) and Saint Louis River Compact (SLRC) begin a war over unaligned farmlands. The Iron Range Republic (IRSS) and Red River Dominion (RRD) join with the SLRC to oppose Saint Cloud. The war ends with mutual exhaustion.

2192 to 2196 – The War of the Angry Saints: The SLRC, SCU and RRD align themselves against the IRR. They have the advantage of numbers, the IRR has the advantage of interior position. The war is brutal and impactful. the SLRC dissolves in 2194, their territory annexed into the IRR. The RRD falls in 2195. In 2196, the SCU invited the Metropolitan Confederacy to join. There is an inconclusive battle at Milaca, which forces all sides to the negotiating table.

2194 – The Founding of the Duluth Hilltop Archive: When the SLRC disintegrates, the leadership and scientists ensconce themselves on the Hilltop and form the community that would eventually be the Duluth Hilltop Archive.

23rd Century

2210Minnesota The War of the Lone Saint: SCU Agents are caught fermenting discord and hiring bandits to harass the IRR. The Metropolitan Confederacy withdraws support from the SCU. The SCU attempts a preemptive strike but is soundly defeated. Saint Cloud is besieged.
2211Minnesota The War of the Lone Saint: With no help coming, the Saint Cloud Union surrenders and is incorporated into the IRR.
2213Minnesota The Iron Constitution, proclaiming the Iron Republic, is signed.
2218Minnesota Nathaniel Dawson becomes the first elected President of the Iron Republic.
2253Minnesota A force from Mankato burns the Church of Grace outside of Owatonna, sparking a conflict with the Waterloo Confederacy of Iowa.
2254Minnesota The War of 2254: The Iowa Confederacy swarms Mankato, crushing its army and besieging the city. Mankato surrendered two months later. The leadership was executed, their families exiled, and Mankato occupied as the newest city of the Confederacy.
2255Minnesota The Treaty of Stillwater: The Iron Republic, Metropolitan Confederacy, and the free cities of Rochester and Eau Claire agree to limited unions, the main purpose of which was to make them ready to stand against Iowa if that nation should look to march north.
2262Minnesota, Iowa Mankato May Massacre: Iowan authorities try to arrest leaders of a Mankato Independence Movement. Rioting begins, which sparked into massacres.
2262Minnesota, IowaThe War of Iron Wills: In response to the massacre, the Stillwater states sent a diplomatic response, but hardliners rewrote the document into a declaration of war. Iowan troops marched, expecting a surprise but instead running headlong into prepared defenses. Trench warfare develops.
2268Minnesota, Iowa The War of Iron Wills: Iowa managed a breakthrough at the lines between Rochester and the Metropolitan region. Rochester is besieged. Eau Claire sues for peace. Iowa occupies the Metro Cities. Between the siege and occupation forces, Iowa lacks the strength to defeat the Iron Republic.
2271Minnesota, Iowa The War of Iron Wills: The Iron Republic launches a western offensive, swinging south towards Iowan supply lines.
2271Minnesota, IowaThe War of Iron Wills: August 19th, the Battle of Blue Earth. 50,000 Minnesotans defeat 70,000 Iowans and invade Iowa itself.
2271Minnesota, IowaThe Siege of Waterloo: The Minnesotan army disrupts Iowa long enough for local politicians to wrest control of the government from the hardliners. The war ends, and the Iron Republic takes control of huge tracts of land. Soon it is proclaimed the Iron Republic of Minnesota.
2274Minnesota, Mississippi River The first Minnesota cargo ships makes it all the way down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.
2281Minnesota The Minnesota Republic adopts the diamond and stars flag.
2281MinnesotaIn Minnesota, The first corporation is formed to develop and reintroduce steam power to the nation.
2289Quebec Quebec annexes the Marathon region, bringing their influence to Lake Superior.
2290Minnesota, Quebec Quebec and Minnesota sign the treaty of Open Lakes. Quebec provides the men, money and materials to Minnesota, who uses that to build a fledgling navy to combat piracy on Lake Superior.
2296Lake Superior The last recorded instance of piracy on Lake Superior.

24th Century

2365 The Mississippi Empire annexes Saint Louis.
2371 The War of the Three Fools: Quebec attempts an invasion of Michigan and fails. Quebec then invades the Ohio Valley, which leans on Mississippi for support.
2377The War of the Three Fools ends. Quebec and Michigan fail to gain any major territorial concessions, and Mississippi’s support of the various city-states of the Ohio Valley has produced a strong confederacy, and not the puppet state they wanted.
2382The People’s Republic of Michigan begins its first annexation of territory in Wisconsin.

25th Century

2405 Michigan annexes Cleveland, separating it from the UCOV.
2406 The Anatolian War begins
2409 The Anatolian War ends; the Odessan League is now the power around the Black Sea.
2410 The Black Sea Commonwealth is formed.
2416 Mississippi annexes Cairo and Paducah, but failed horribly at Louisville.
2428 Continuing their expansion, the Black Sea Commonwealth changes its name to become the Imperial Commonwealth.
2441 An Imperial Commonwealth Naval Squadron makes its way down the Atlantic Coast, flying the flag.
2443 Imperial Commonwealth embassies come offering membership. It is declined across the board.
2448 In response to increased Commonwealth pressure, the Atlantic American nations signed the treating of Lexington, creating the Lexington organization, a collective defense group.
2452A number of royal members of the Chevalier family of Quebec die under suspicious circumstances, ending with King Jean-Mark III. King Jean-Constance, a pro-Commonwealth lord, withdraws from the Lexington Organization and joins with the Commonwealth.
2455 Boston frigate Cambridge engages two Quebecois sloops, sparking an international incident.
2455 July 10: Quebec declares war on the Lexington organization. Initial offensives fail and the Commonwealth is forced to intervene.
2456 The Commonwealth War: Minnesota and Iowa clear much of the Superior coastline of Quebecois forces. Trench warfare develops from the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Erie.
2456 June 1 and 2: The Battle of Bermuda: The combined fleet of the Lexington Organization is destroyed, despite a promising first day. The whole of the eastern seaboard and Caribbean islands are open for assault.
2456 October 1: The Mississippi Empire switches allegiance, joining the Commonwealth. Most of Atlantic America falls into chaos.
2456 November: Boston surrenders.
2457January: A coup in Michigan ends the democratically elected government of that nation and installs a king.
2457March: The Commonwealth launches an invasion of Iowa and Minnesota. The two nations fall within four weeks.
2459February 10th: Xavier Santiago-Locke is crowned King Xavier of North Mississippi.
2471 The last of the Commonwealth Wars is finished; Commonwealth Hegemony is complete.
